The EFF in the Klerksdorp-based municipality, the Matlosana Local Municipality, has called for legal action to be taken against the illegal selling of land.

The call comes after a warning issued to residents who received fraudulent allocation slips or stand numbers, that a court order pertaining to Jacaranda Extension 10, 11 and 12 are still in effect. 

According to the statement issued by Matlosana's Communications and Marketing Department, there are allegations that some committee members accepted money from residents in return for the allocation of stands at Extension 11. This has caused great concerns.

EFF's Fikile Oortman said anyone who illegally receives money in return of allocating stands, should face the law as they are criminals and they should be charged.

"You cannot take the land and sell it to our people when we have so many difficulties in terms of the land. You take the land and you sell it to our people. Our people must be given stands for free by the municipality," said Oortman.

The municipality's communications department said invididuals residing illegally in Jacaranda, Extension 11, will be evicted from the property. Residents have been advised to refrain from engaging in any form of interference with governmental processes and allow authorities to proceed with its legal system accordingly. 

More details on the roll-out plan of allocation and relocation to Extention 11 is expected to be shared on Monday (18/9).
