Bodies recovered after Northern Cape floods, yet to be identified─── LUCKY NKUYANE 19:53 Sun, 02 Jul 2023
The bodies of the three people recovered in the Nama Khoi Local Municipality in the Northern Cape have not yet been identified.
According to the municipal spokesperson Jason Milford, the three unidentified bodies belong to foreign nationals.
Bodies of three out of five individuals who went missing following severe flooding in the Buffelsrivier area were retrieved on Sunday 2 July 2023. This means the bodies of two people are still missing and unaccounted for.
The search and rescue teams and the police recovered them.
"Tragically, five individuals were swept away by the powerful current. We regret to inform you that the Search & Rescue Teams have recovered three bodies this morning. Our heartfelt condolences go to the families and friends of the victims during this difficult time."

Milford said the police deployed a helicopter on Sunday (2/7) to assist in transporting crucial supplies, including food and medical provisions, to Buffelsrivier.
This effort aims to ensure that the community's basic needs are met, despite the challenging circumstances.
Furthermore, the local Department of Social Development has mobilised to deliver food parcels to severely affected households in Buffelsrivier and Komaggas. This initiative seeks to provide immediate relief and support to those who the disaster has impacted most," Milford added.
