Health and safety concerns led to the Medfontein Building in St Andrews Street, Bloemfontein, being shut down for a period of 30 days.
The Free State Department of Labour released a report on the issues that require immediate correction to maintain compliance with health and safety regulations.
The Free State’s Department of Community Safety, Roads and Transport uses the building.
After conducting an inspection, the Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) team concluded the working conditions were too dangerous for the employees to continue working from there.
After an inspection, the department closed the building on 12 May. The OHS team voiced concerns about a number of things, including poor electrical wiring.
The department's spokesperson, Hillary Mophethe, promised to inform the public of any building changes.
