Dukwana's Exco: Out with the old, in with the new─── TSHEHLA KOTELI 18:21 Tue, 14 Mar 2023
The newly elected Free State Premier, Mxolisi Dukwana, has made changes to the provincial Executive Council (Exco) by replacing some members (MECs) with new faces.
- The MEC of Health, Montsheng Tsiu, has been replaced by Mathabo Leeto;
- The MEC for Community Safety, Roads and Transport, William Bulwane, has been replaced by Queen Letsoha-Mathae;
- The MEC for Social Development, Mamiki Qabathe, has been replaced by the MEC of Public Works and Infrastructure, Motshidisi Koloi;
- Koloi’s movement to Social Development has made space for Dibolelo Mahlatsi to be appointed as MEC for Public Works and Infrastructure;
- The MEC for the Department of Small Business Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs (Destea), Makalo Mohale, is the new MEC for Education in the place of the late Tate Makgoe;
- The MEC of Destea will now be Thabo Meko;
- The MEC for Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (Cogta) and Human Settlements will be Ketso Makume, who is taking over from Dukwana;
- Gadija Brown is to remain the MEC for Treasury;
- Limakatso Mahasa is to remain the MEC for Sports, Art, Culture and Recreation;
- The MEC for Agriculture has not been appointed yet.

Four members of the ANC in the Free State have been sworn in as Members of the Provincial Legislature (MPLs) on Monday. They are Makume, Mahlatsi, Leeto, and Letsoha-Mathae.
The legislature had four vacancies following the resignations of the former Free State premier, Sisi Ntombela, Jabulani Radebe, and Polediso Motsoeneng and the passing of Tate Makgoe, the MEC for Education.
Makume was elected as the deputy provincial chairperson of the ANC in the Free State in January.
Mahlatsi is a former member of the National Assembly. Before she was elected to parliament in 2019, Mahlatsi worked for the Free State Department of Public Works, Roads and Transport and the Free State Department of Social Development.
Leeto is currently the treasurer of the ANC in the Free State and a former MEC for Sports, Arts, Culture and Recreation.

It was confirmed to OFM News that the National Executive Committee (NEC) has selected the Umkhonto weSizwe veteran, Gregory Nthatisi, to replace Mxolisi Siyonzana as the mayor of the Mangaung Metro Municipality. However, Siyonzana is yet to submit his letter of resignation to the speaker of the council, Stefanie Lockman-Naidoo, which will allow the council to appoint Nthatisi as mayor.
