Residents of the Letsemeng Local Municipality in Petrusburg are planning a total shutdown on Monday.

One of the residents, Pali Seekoei, says this is because Acting Municipal Manager (MM), Dineo Tsikana, allegedly refused to meet with residents, despite them meeting with the mayor, councillors, and directors.

Last week a protest erupted in the small Free state town as a result of what residents have termed "non-existent" service delivery. Angry community members were up in arms for three days, barricading the N8 highway with burning tyres, stones, and other debris.

Seekoei says residents are not pleased with the fact that the acting MM is reluctant to meet with them.

Seekoei told OFM News residents have been struggling with access to water for months, without any communication offered to them about when they will have water again.

DA ward 6 councillor, Thabo Nthapo, previously said the ANC councillor has been avoiding contact with him regarding the matter.

Residents have also been struggling with power outages and sewage drainage problems, which has caused damage to some homes.
