North West EFF elect new leadership─── LUCKY NKUYANE 11:52 Mon, 05 Sep 2022
The Economic Freedom Fighters’ (EFF) North West Provincial chairperson has retained his seat during this past weekend's third people’s assembly - held at the Klerksdorp-based Matlosana Local Municipality.
Members of the official opposition in the province re-elected Shakes Botswe as chair. Botswe received 411 votes compared to the 307 votes for opponent Montwedi Mothusi.
Another official, Papiki Babuile, also retained his seat as the provincial secretary of the party.
Both are also members of the provincial legislature.
Meanwhile, addressing the people assembly’s this weekend, EFF president Julius Malema again raised the issue of nationalisation of mines.
The EFF is the official opposition in three provinces, including North West, Limpopo, and Mpumalanga - following the 2019 national election held by the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC).
