Community members of Three Rivers in the Vaal are without power after a fire at a substation in Three Rivers, Vereeniging, was reported on Thursday morning at around 08:00.
Emfuleni Local Municipality spokesperson, Makhosonke Sangweni, says the electricity department of the municipality is aware of a power outage currently affecting Three Rivers. He said this is due to a 10MVA that caught fire on Thursday morning.
He further said the team is on-site to access the extent of the damage and the scope of work required to restore power, and that no estimated restoration time is available at this stage.
