Millions allocated to #MACUFE─── TSHEHLA KOTELI 12:25 Thu, 07 Jul 2022
At least R3 million was allocated by the National Department of Sport, Arts and Culture to the Free State for the Mangaung African Cultural festival - MACUFE - in the previous financial year.
The Minister was replying to a question posed by a Member of the National Assembly, Veronica van Dyk, on how much the department has spent in funding projects in the country. OFM News has sent an enquiry to the provincial department to find out if there was a MACUFE in the previous year. The Department was flirting with the idea of a virtual MACUFE for 2021, however, it remains unclear whether the idea saw the light of day.

The minister’s reply further states that in the financial year 2019/2020, R3 million was allocated to the provincial department of Sport, Arts, Culture and Recreation. There was no allocation for MACUFE during the 2020/2021 financial year, and it seems there weren’t any allocations made by the national department to the province during that year.
