Labour closes doors of Free State police station | News Article

Another building has been closed down this week in the Free State due to negligence. The Odendaalsrus Police Station is reported to have been closed following a visit from the Department of Labour.

Free State police spokesperson, Motantsi Makhele, says conditions at the station began to deteriorate shortly after the renovation of the building came to a standstill. He says the contractors who were renovating the station were outsourced by the Department of Public Works, and this is something that is beyond the control of the South African Police Services (SAPS).

The Occupational Health and Safety inspectors also showed that there were some serious safety hazards in the provincial Disaster Management Centre in Bloemfontein, which resulted in the closure of the building too.

Meanwhile, Makhele adds that the community service centre will now operate from the Kutlwanong Satellite Station. He further assured community members that services will continue without disruptions from the satellite station.
