The Sol Plaatje Municipality in Kimberley in the Northern Cape has confirmed the arrest of three municipal workers for allegedly stealing copper cables.
The municipality's spokesperson, Thoko Riet, tells OFM News that the suspects were caught in possession of cables at a local scrap yard weighing just over 11kg.
Riet confirmed that the cables were stolen from the municipality. However, she is unsure about the value of the stolen copper cables at this stage.
She condemned the theft of copper cables and stated that the municipality will allow the law to take its course. She also stated that internal disciplinary actions will commence against the suspects.
