Training institute owner in court for fraudulent qualifications─── 14:47 Fri, 29 Apr 2022
Africa Corporate Training Institute's owner appeared before the Bethlehem Magistrate’s Court on Friday morning, after being released on R5 000 bail for issuing a bogus qualification.
His case has been postponed to 25 May 2022, when he will be appearing with his co-accused, Xolani Malindi.
The 57-year-old owner, the Nigerian national Oladele Akanmu, was investigated for fraud after a qualification issued by him was discovered. This follows an application by Malindi for a Municipal Manager position at the Nketoane Local Municipality in June 2020, where the fake qualification was attached.
According to the Free State Hawks' spokesperson, Christopher Singo, the case has been handed over to the courts by the SAPS, and the police now await the outcome of the case once the court has passed judgment.
“We don’t know if there are other people who have acquired fraudulent qualifications from the institution, so we are only investigating the matter involving Xolani Malindi. So that’s what we are investigating, his qualification.”
Malindi, aged 34, was arrested on 8 December 2021 for fraud, and appeared before the Reitz Magistrate’s Court. He was released on R5 000 bail.
