Six men aged between 22 and 26 are expected to make their first appearance before the Vryburg Magistrate's Court on Monday, on murder charges.
The suspects' court appearance emanates from an incident in which the body of 30-year-old Luckyboy Mereekae was found at the corner of Vry and De Kock Streets with several stab wounds on Saturday morning.
Police spokesperson, Amanda Funani, says in a release that according to information at their disposal, the suspects came from a tavern outside Vryburg when they met Mereekae. Subsequent to a quarrel that ensued, the suspects allegedly took out knives and stabbed Mereekae several times.
Preliminary investigations led the police to Huhudi Location where the six suspects were apprehended and weapons possibly used to commit the offence confiscated. At this stage, the motive for the murder is still unknown and investigations into the matter continue.
