The Maluti-A-Phofung Local Municipality in the Free State is experiencing a high volume of infrastructure vandalism of late.
Cables, substations, and transformers have been vandalised.
Municipal spokesperson, Thabo Kessah, has told OFM News due to this challenge the municipal manager, Fothodi Mothaha, has decided to meet with the South African Police Service’s (SAPS) leadership to discuss ways in which to deal with the situation.
Kessah adds that a follow-up meeting was scheduled for Thursday.
He further pointed out that the municipality is currently busy checking the illegal electrical connections as well as the installation of smart meters.
