Suspects arrested on the N1 by Vaal police─── 08:22 Fri, 17 Dec 2021
Vaal police have confirmed arresting three suspects who were robbing motorists and hitchhikers on the N1 between Orange Farm and Vanderbiljpark.
The arrest follows after the suspects robbed a hiker, who asked the suspects for a lift to Bloemfontein.
The victim was threatened with a fire arm and ordered to run into the bushes.
Patrolling police spotted the victim running on the N1, and came to his aid.
A chase ensued with the suspects' red Toyota Yaris.
Vaal police are calling on motorists and hitchhikers on the N1 who have fallen victim to these kinds of crimes, to come forward.
The arrested suspects will soon appear at the Vereeniging Magistrate's Court, where they will be facing charges of armed robbery and possession of stolen property.
