DA tables motion against Matlosana mayor─── 06:00 Fri, 12 Feb 2021

The Democratic Alliance in the Matlosana Local Municipality in North West has tabled a motion of no confidence against mayor Maetu Kgaile and Speaker Washington Ntozini.
This follows a second council meeting that ended in chaos. The DA says the council meeting on Tuesday was unruly and disruptive, just like the first council meeting of the year - adding this has become constant behaviour.
According to the party, people in attendance were shouting to the point where nobody could be heard, various members were calling points of order and one person even started singing into her microphone.
DA caucus leader in Matlosana, Elmarie Postma, says Ntozini requested Kgaile to submit her items to council at the beginning of the meeting, despite her having submitted a letter of resignation. Postma says there is no other choice but to remove Kgaile as she has been missing in action for the past nine months.
"The request by the speaker created chaos in the council chamber, causing Ntozini to lose control of the meeting again, this is another example that the speaker fails in his position," said Postma.
