EFF paint #Senekal red | News Article

The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) have stuck true to their promise and have painted the Free State town of Senekal red on Friday.

This as Sekwetje Isaiah Mahlamba and Sekola Piet Matlaletsa, aged 32 and 44 years respectively, will appear before the Senekal Magistrate’s Court shortly in connection with the brutal murder of 21-year-old farm manager Brendin Horner. The town of Senekal is buzzing with EFF members and a few members of the African National Congress (ANC) in their green and yellow regalia.

Not only are the streets filled to capacity but there is a heavy police presence in the town. Vehicles are searched and screened for weapons at a roadblock upon entering the town.

Ministers of Police and State Security Bheki Cele and Ayanda Dlodlo have also just arrived at the Senekal Magistrate’s Court. Provincial police previously told OFM News that the case would be moved to the Paul Roux Magistrate’s Court but as public interest increased that decision appears to have been reversed.

The media has applied for access to the courthouse and it has been decided that only three members of the media from different media houses will be allowed to enter to hear the ruling on the media’s application. Thereafter it will be determined how many can enter the courtroom officially.

Horner's body was found tied to a pole in an open space situated at the De Rots farm at Paul Roux on October the 1st. Mahlamba and Matlaletsa are expected to formally apply for bail after their first court appearance in the Senekal Magistrate's Court was disrupted by protesters. The group of protestors last week allegedly damaged court property, fired gunshots, and torched a police vehicle demanding that the pair be handed over them.

This is a developing story.
