#CoronavirusFS: MECs test positive─── MARVIN NTSANE 07:00 Mon, 27 Jul 2020
At least two MECs in the Free State have received positive Covid-19 results in the same week.
The MEC of Education Tate Makgoe and MEC of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (Cogta) Thembeni Nxangisa have tested positive for Covid-19.
The provincial government spokesperson, Setjhaba Maphalla, says that Makgoe's results came back on Thursday last week.
He adds that Nxangisa's results came back positive on Sunday. Maphalla says Makgoe is in hospital in Bloemfontein.
He says Nxangisa is in self-isolation at his home. He also says that Makalo Mohale, the MEC of Small Business Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs (Destea) will act as Education MEC until further notice.
Meanwhile, he says Nxangisa will continue to carry out his work from home. Maphalla says the Premier of the Free State, Sisi Ntombela, wished both MECs a speedy recovery.
This follows the tabling of the provincial Education Department Budget Vote on Friday last week. Makgoe was absent and the budget speech was delivered by Mohale.
