ANC welcomes Saul’s cabinet reshuffle─── KATLEHO MORAPELA 10:07 Sat, 27 Jun 2020
The ANC in the Northern Cape has welcomed the cabinet reshuffle announced by Premier Zamani Saul and vowed to support the new executive council.
The party’s Provincial Secretary, Deshi Ngxanga, says they are confident the newly appointed MECs will serve the province and it’s people with due diligence and ensure that there is proper service delivery.
The party has congratulated the newly appointed MECs, Fufe Makatong and Desery Finies, who will be serving in the portfolios of Public works and Sports, Arts and Culture respectively.
Ngxanga has, in a statement, conveyed the Provincial Executive Committee’s (PEC) gratitude to the outgoing MECs - stating that they served the people of the Northern Cape with dignity and integrity.
OFM News yesterday reported that Saul reshuffled his cabinet after Social Development MEC Martha Bartlett and MEC for the Department of Sports, Arts and Culture, Bernice Sinxeve, were deployed to Parliament to serve on the National Council of Provinces (NCOP), leaving the province with two vacancies.
Whilst there was wide speculation that the current Deputy Speaker of the Northern Cape provincial legislature and former Sol Plaatje executive mayor, Mangaliso Matika, would be appointed as the MEC of Sport, Arts and Culture, Saul brought in new members into the Council and made changes to his entire cabinet - with MEC Bentley Vass and Mac Jack being the only MECs remaining in their previous portfolios.
