With only a week to go before exams at the University of the Free State kick-off, Rector and Vice-Chancellor of the university, Francis Petersen, confirms it is all systems go.

He says all preparation to ensure the smooth running of the upcoming end-of-the year exams have been put in place and is confident there will be no hiccups.

He confirms students at the Qwa Qwa campus are now up-to-speed with this year’s academic programme following protests that broke out at the campus a months ago. Academic activities at this campus came to a halt last month when students went up and arms over a missing student. T

he disappearance of a 21-year-old, Amkelani Thwala, rocked the university at the time when the entire country was still reeling from the murder of a UCT student, Uyinene Mrwetyana, who was raped and murdered at a post office.

Petersen said whilst investigations continue, academic activities at this campus have resumed and is confident exams at all campuses will run smoothly.

He adds that although the country is at this stage experiencing load-shedding, they will have their generators up and running.
