The EFF’s spokesperson in the province, Jerry Matebesi, was reacting to the recent raid by the Hawks at the Rustenburg municipality last week. He says it is clear that positions are used to further agendas of politicians which often is to loot the funds of the state. This comes in the wake of Hawks spokesperson, Tlangelani Rikhotso, confirming the investigation against the municipality. Matebesi says all those who have been implicated must account.

 SABC reports they raided the municipal offices earlier last week relating to the tender of mechanical work at the Bospoort Reservoir.

Spokesperson Hlangelani Rikhotso says they cannot disclose more information at this stage as it may jeopardise the investigation.

Executive Mayor Mpho Khunou has, however, disputed any fraud relating to the tender.

He insists the service provider was appointed after following a rigorous and intensive procurement process.
