Free trauma counselling is being offered to Hoërskool Driehoek learners, families and officials affected by the tragic loss of three learners following the collapse of a walkway at the school this morning.
Gauteng MEC of Education, Panyaza Lesufi says the deceased are two boys and a girl between the ages of 13 and 18. He explained during a media briefing that one of the learners has been identified and officials are trying to get a hold of the next of kin of the other two learners. Scores of remaining learners were injured in the collapse, with five reportedly in a critical condition. ER24 spokesperson, Russell Meiring, tells OFM News all relevant emergency services transported the injured to hospitals in the area. Gauteng Education Department and Amani Mental Health are reportedly offering free trauma counselling for all those negatively impacted by the incident.
Lesufi has further announced that there will be no schooling till further notice due to safety concerns.
