Mid-morning Magic’s Yolanda Maartens speaks to the Free State Symphony Orchestra’s Daniel Boico about what music enthusiasts can look forward to at the concert. This event on 14 September 2024 will take place at the Sand du Plessis Theatre in Bloemfontein.
The Free State Symphony Orchestra (FSSO) invites you to experience “Heritage”, a concert celebrating the rich tapestry of musical traditions worldwide, under the baton of renowned conductor Airat Ichmouratov. The concert begins at 19:30.
The evening will feature an inspiring programme, beginning with Moerane’s evocative piece, “Fatse la Heso”, a work that resonates deeply with the cultural heritage of South Africa. The concert will continue with the world première of Ichmouratov’s own Piano Concerto, showcasing the remarkable talent of soloist Jean-Philippe Sylvestre.

The night will culminate with a performance of Dvorák's iconic Symphony No. 9 (New World), which bridges the old and the new, reflecting the spirit of discovery and cultural fusion. Tickets are available here.
