Bloemfontein - The Toyota Cheetahs are excited of their changes ahead of the upcoming Currie Cup season. Following their best Super Rugby season to date, the men from Bloemfontein feel there is a positive atmosphere in the Cheetahs camp.
Yesterday, returning Cheetahs prop Wian du Preez told Ofm Sport that it’s a great time to be in the squad. He said, there are a lot of old faces, however their are a lot new faces as well.
Du Preez is looking forward to using his experience with some of the younger guys and is keen to work along side the likes of prop John-Roy Jenkinson who joins the Cheetahs from the Leopards.
He also said the playing at the Cheetahs is the ideal place to for young front rowers because of the the wealth of experience Os du Randt and Naka Drotské add to the franchise.
Du Preez said it won’t be easy getting a starting spot in the side and one should make use of the opportunities presented. He has been plying his trade at Munster in Ireland since 2010. He was also part of the Cheetahs team that won the Currie Cup in 2005.
Cheetahs coach, Naka Drotské meanwhile said it’s great to have an experienced play such as Du Preez in the side.
The Cheetahs kick-off their Currie Cup campaign when they tackle the Golden Lions at Ellis Park on 10 August.
