Third Sasolburg police officer arrested for armed robbery─── CHRISTAL-LIZE MULLER 09:23 Sat, 31 Jan 2015
Sasolburg - Another police officer from Sasolburg has been arrested in connection with an armed robbery.
This follows the arrest of two police officers facing the same charge earlier this week.
Free State police spokesperson, Sellwane Mapamela, says a constable stationed at Sasolburg will appear in the local Magistrate’s Court soon after he and another suspect allegedly pointed a firearm at a 30-year-old man delivering biscuits at a tuck shop in Zamdela on Wednesday.
Mapamela says the other suspect is still at large. This comes after the case against 30-year-old constable Motlalepule Hlabayo and 38-year-old Molefi Sefatsa, who appeared in the local Magistrate's Court on Thursday, were denied bail.
The accused stationed at Vaal Rand were arrested on Wednesday in connection with an armed robbery in December after they allegedly pulled over a 25-year-old complainant, her husband and another male passenger in a marked police vehicle near Zamdela.
Two other suspects appeared demanding money. All involved then went to a shopping mall in Johannesburg with the two vehicles. The complainant gave them money and the suspects fled.
