Ladybrand - The driver of a 22-wheeler truck that ploughed into construction workers just after ten this morning on the R26 outside Ladybrand, has been arrested and will be charged with culpable homicide.
Eastern Free State Police spokesperson Martin Xuma says it appears the truck's brakes failed to function properly, resulting in crashing into the workers on site.
Paramedics arrived on the scene and found the bodies of five workers. The truck was on the side of the road with its load of bricks scattered all over.
