NW Premier's Office investigating name change claims─── 07:46 Sun, 06 Oct 2013
The Office of the Premier for North West Province is investigating possible misrepresentation of its renaming and rebranding process following a media report that a senior official is canvassing for renaming of the North West Province to Galowe Province.
The renaming of the province is supposed to be preceded by a public consultation process and informed by submissions received from communities therefore the Office of the Premier is concerned that if the media report published on page 10 of Mafikeng Mail of Friday 4 October 2013 is true, then the Chief Director Branding and Marketing in the Office of the Premier, Charles Nadbeni would have to answer for misrepresenting the Office of the Premier and the Provincial Government on its rebranding objective.
The Premier has not as yet gazetted the process calling for a name change therefore it would be foolhardy of anyone to have taken it upon themselves to criticise the name proposed by the ruling party or come up with alternative names while acting in their official capacity.
Premier Modise wishes to distance herself from the alleged remarks attributed to the Chief Director Branding and Marketing which she views in a serious light as she perceives them as reckless, unwarranted and downright out of order.
