The complex was built in honour of the Goddess Hathor who was the Goddess of love, beauty, music, dancing, fertility, and pleasure. She was the protector of women, though men also worshipped her. She had priests as well as priestesses in her temples.  The temple is however making headlines for a different reason: how its granite stairs have somehow melted.  The temple, located in the Dendera temple complex, is also known to be the site of the famous relief of the Dendera Lamp.

The steps of the stairs of the Hathor temple have been completely melted down.  This phenomenon can't be easily explained away by science, as the stairs were built in solid granite, which would need extremely high temperatures in order to melt. Conspiracy theorists have suggested that this melting is a clear sign that there could perhaps have been nuclear weaponry or advanced technology in Ancient Egypt. Now we aren't saying they are wrong, nor are we saying they are right, but what we are saying is, maybe people should just stay out of these ancient temples. You never know what was locked up in there and whether it will end up being released, leaving humankind in certain doom.
