Weird Wide Web - Queen Elizabeth once saved rapper Snoop Dogg | News Article

Rap legend Snoop Dogg has opened up about the time his 'gal' Queen Elizabeth II stopped him getting kicked out of the UK.

According to unilad, in an interview with DJ Whoo Kid, Snoop Dogg – real name Calvin Cordozar Broadus Jr – spoke about an incident that occurred in the 1990s while he was on tour. The event resulted in a newspaper story being run in 1994, which called for the rapper to be removed from the UK by lawmakers.  Thankfully, however, none other than the Queen stepped in to help.  In 1993, in Los Angeles, a man was killed, and Snoop Dogg was arrested and charged with first-degree murder, The Independent reports. In 1996, the charge was dropped.  However, while the case was ongoing, calls grew for Snoop Dogg to finish his tour early and return to the US, with the headline of a UK newspaper reading: 'Kick this evil b*stard out.'

Reflecting on the time, Snoop Dogg stated: 'Guess who came to my defence? Just take a guess. The Queen.'  According to Snoop Dogg, the Queen said, ‘This man has done nothing in our country. He can come.’  The rapper noted: 'The queen… bow down… When the Queen speaks, bow down. That’s Harry and William’s grandmother, you dig? You think they weren’t there, saying, ‘Grandma, please let him in, grandma. He’s OK. We love his music'. ‘You know Harry, I’ll let him in for you. He’s not so bad after all and he’s quite cute.’ The Queen, that’s my gal.' Read more about this encounter here.
