The Bafana Bafana captain and goalkeeper, Ronwen Williams, has been nominated for three accolades in the 2024 CAF Awards.

The Confederation of African Football has announced the men’s nominees for the 2024 awards and South Africa has done well with several nominations and Williams leading the pack.

Williams, who is also in line for a coveted Ballon d'Or, has been shortlisted for the big one, the CAF Men's Player of the Year award. In addition, he is in the running for the Goalkeeper of the Year and the Interclub Player of the Year award.

Hugo Broos in turn is nominated for the Coach of the Year award, while Bafana Bafana has received a nomination for the National Team of the Year.

At club level, the seven-time consecutive Premier Soccer League champions, Mamelodi Sundowns, are in the running for the Club of the Year accolade.

The CAF Awards will be hosted in Marrakech, Morocco on 16 December. CAF is yet to announce the nominees for the Women’s Football Awards and it is expected that South Africa will do well with these as well.
