On the weekend, Marumo reached the quarter-finals with a 3-2 win against Polokwane City at the old Peter Mokaba Stadium. Gallants viewed the game as a homecoming of sorts as they were based in Limpopo before relocating to Bloemfontein permanently following the purchase of the PSL status of Moroka Swallows.

In the next round Gallants will play at home when they face the defending champions, Stellenbosch FC, who in turn beat AmaZulu 2-1 in extra time.

The match will most likely be played at the Toyota Stadium in Bloemfontein, however, it could also be played at the Dr Petrus Molemela Stadium in Rocklands.

There are some really exciting matches that lie ahead in the other quarter-finals and the biggest of all four games will no doubt be the game between Kaizer Chiefs and the seven-time consecutive defending PSL champions, Mamelodi Sundowns.

The Amakhosi thumped SuperSport United 4-0 in the Last 16, while the Brazilians hammered Golden Arrows 5-0.

Richards Bay in turn will be at home to Eric Tinkler’s Cape Town City FC. The Rockets, TS Galaxy in turn will play at home to the giant killers, Magesi FC. A nine-man Galaxy beat Chippa United 2-0 on Sunday in Nelspruit.

Clinton Larsen’s Magesi were responsible for the biggest upset in the round of 16 when they beat Orlando Pirates 3-2 at the Orlando Stadium in Soweto.

The PSL has yet to confirm the dates and venues of the Carling Knockout Cup quarter-finals.
