Following the resignation of Steve Komphela as head coach of Kaizer Chiefs this past Saturday, the Amakhosi have appointed Patrick Mabedi as interim head coach.
Komphela's resignation came on the back of the Amakhosi's 2-0 loss to Free State Stars in the semi-final's of the Nedbank Cup which was marred by a violent pitch invasion that left many spectators injured with some requiring hospitalization.
Mabedi who was assistant coach to Komphela will take the reins in the last three games of the campaign against Arrows, Maritzburg United at home on Saturday and away at Ajax Cape Town on the 12th of May.
The 44 year old former Cape Town All Stars coach is no stranger to played for Chiefs from 1998 to 2006 and was the captain when they won back-to-back Premiership titles in 2004 and 2005.
According to a statement released by the club, the search for a permanent coach continues.
