Celtic continue their purple patch in the PSL─── MORGAN PIEK 07:51 Mon, 08 Jan 2018
Bloemfontein Celtic kicked off 2018 with a win on Sunday by beating the ever tricky Golden Arrows 2-1 at the Dr Petrus Molemela Stadium on the outskirts of Bloemfontein.
It was a classic example of a game of two halves as Celtic dominated the opening stanza, while during the second 45 minutes, Arrows were the better of the two teams.
First half goals by Victor Letsoalo and Deon Hotto saw Phunya Sele Sele leading 2-0 at the break, while Thomas Chideu netted for the visitors in the 69th minute.
The Celtic coach, Veselin Jelušic, told OFM Sport that he was happy with his team's performance.
“I am quite happy with the performance. Especially in the first half.
“The second half - we physically and naturally dropped it a little bit. Dlamini came into the game and I think he also performed very well, so I am happy with the performance.
While the side from Lamontville lost the game, the former Celtic coach, Clinton Larsen, in his turn said that he wasn’t too dissatisfied with his team’s effort.
“After some strong words at half-time, I thought that they did a lot better.
“We dominated them, got the goal and put them under some real pressure.
“I feel that the damage was done in the first half and I am very disappointed to give such a lacklustre performance in the first 45 minutes.
“We are a better team than that in terms of the effort we put in, and that effort wasn’t there in the first forty-five.
“Like I said, I am very happy with the turnaround in the second half, but we left it too late, because the damage was already done.”
Celtic moved back up to in sixth in the standings and face Maritzburg United on Friday.
