In continued efforts to curb crime in the province, police in North West arrested three men aged between 40 and 47 on Friday in Zeerust on drug-related charges.

Police spokesperson, Adéle Myburgh, says the police responded to a tip-off and discovered drugs with an estimated street value of R15 000.

They also confiscated R200 counterfeit notes worth R7000, two printers and cigarettes suspected to have been stolen during a business robbery.

Myburgh says the third suspect, aged 40, was arrested in Ikageleng location with plastic bags full of drugs.

In a separate incident a 55-year-old man was arrested at Kopfontein Border Post after his taxi arrived from Botswana.

The police stopped and searched the taxi and discovered illicit cigarettes estimated to be worth R76 500 inside luggage bags.

All the suspects will appear in the Zeerust Magistrate's Court today to face various charges including dealing in drugs.
