The Toyota Cheetahs will be flying out to Wales on Sunday already for their Guinness Pro14 play-off match against the Scarlets.

The Cheetahs resumed training this week for their final group game against the Southern Kings in Port Elizabeth.

This side from Bloemfontein need just a single point from the game to secure a play-offs berth, even if it is a losing bonus point.

The Cheetahs will, however, field their strongest available team against the Kings in order to take some momentum into the quarter-finals.

This Cheetahs coach, Rory Duncan, said that they are confident of upsetting Scarlets, as the team now has a better understanding of how to play in Europe.

“I believe that we have a good understanding of how to play there now,” said Duncan.

“We have four or five tours abroad behind us now, so we are not that team that went on that first tour.

“The team has matured and the team has learnt a lot of lessons.

“It will be a case of putting everything together now because obviously we are going to be going away.

“It will all be about putting our experiences together and coming up with a good plan.”

The Springbok scrumhalf, Rudy Paige, could be making his Cheetahs and Pro14 debut on Saturday after joining the side from the Bulls. Should he play, it will be his first game this season.

Saturday’s derby between the Kings and the Cheetahs at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium kicks off at 15:00.
