Jaguars claim Telkom Netball League victory─── KAYLA BARKER 14:40 Sun, 02 Jul 2023

The Free State Crinums and the Gauteng Jaguars faced each other in the TNL Final on Saturday evening at a sold out Heartfelt Arena in Pretoria with the Jaguars emerging victorious.
The Jaguars boast 5 consecutive titles prior to last year, when the Golden Fireballs took the title. This year they are back at the top after defeating the Crinums in what was their fifth Telkom Netball League final against each other.
The competition was stiff early on as both sides raced for dominance. The Crinums lead the first quarter of the game but the Jaguars were not far behind as they fought to close the gap, managing to reduce it to just one point at 14-13 to the Crinums.
Staying strong on defence and surely building up their attack pushed the Jaguars to an 8-point lead at halftime, speaking to their dominance. Defence remained a priority for the Gauteng side as the game progressed and as the Crinums fought to close the gap.
The Jaguars, however, remained at the top with a close call victory at 59-51, claiming their 6th league title.
The Free State Crinums walked away with silver and last year’s champions, the Golden Fireballs, settled for bronze as they claimed a 51-47 victory over the Stings.
The TNL Final marked the end of the 2023 season. The Netball World Cup, being hosted by South Africa, is up next on the 2023 netball calendar and is set to kick off later this month, on 28 July.
