It is with great pleasure that we announce the team that will represent South Africa at the London 2017 World Para Athletics Championships from the 14th – 23rd July.

The Athletics team will see all the Rio 2016 medalists back in the line-up and ready to compete in the Green and Gold. The team will also see six athletes making their debut in the Green and Gold.

This will also be the Competition for Paralympian’s Ilse Hayes and Arnu Fourie. Let's take a quick look at what they have achieved during their careers.

Ilse Hayes
Born in Johannesburg, South Africa, in 1985. At the age of eleven, she was diagnosed with Stargardt disease. Hayes has competed in five World Championships and four Paralympic Games. London 2017 will be her sixth and final competition. She will enter her final competition as the reigning T13 100m & 200m World Champion.

Arnu Fourie
Born in Bloemfontein, the City of Roses, Fourie lost his left leg below the knee in a boating propeller accident in 2003. He was a rugby player at the time and was signed by the Golden Lions before his accident. Fourie has competed in three World Championships and three Paralympic Games. London 2017 World Para Athletics Championships will be Fourie’s fourth and final competition. Fourie is the regional Silver Medalist from Doha 2015 World Championships. We can't wait to see you run in London.

With only 32 days to go till London 2017 World Para Athletics Championships, the National Paralympic Committee of South Africa (SASCOC) has announced the team that will fly the South African flag in the United Kingdon.
