Elmarie is a an admitted qualified attorney and notary with 25+ years’ experience as a commercial attorney in practice and corporate legal counsel within the commercial, corporate and agricultural sector.

She obtained her LLB from UNISA and a BCom Law degree from the University of Pretoria. She had been admitted as an attorney in 1997 and notary in 2008.  Besides the legal qualifications she is a highly qualified Company Secretary, being a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Company Secretaries and Administrators, She is the Group’s’ FAIS Key Individual and Compliance Officer (RE 1 and RE 5 exams), and holds a number of executive development certificates from leading international business institutions, such as the IEDP (WITS Business School) Harvard, Insead and Oxford Said Business School.

She is a member of the executive management team of the Senwes group, acting in other leadership positions including directorships, the chairman of the Senwes Group Compliance Committee, member of the Job Grading Committee, Managing Trustee of a Thobo Trust (BEE trust (CSI)) and Compliance Officer for the Long Term Incentive Trust. Given the diverse businesses of the Senwes Group such as financial services (Insurance/FICA/FAIS), credit extension (Banking/NCA), wholesale and retail  (FMCG), mining, as well as Grain commodities (Handling/storage/logistics and trading), her  exposure and experience are quite vast. On the corporate services side and being involved with SLA and project management (listings and successful mergers and joint venture deals), she also have a good understanding of  other corporate services such as labour matters, investor relations, risk management and general overall business management.

On the African and South African legal & finance forefront, she has been chronicled on platforms such as Moneyweb, and recognised by The Legal 500 who have put her on the GC Powerlist (Africa) as a Top 100 affiliate.  She manages a team of 14 professional and administrative employees, servicing 6 000 shareholders and 22 companies in the group. During July 2019, the team was nominated as a finalist in the African Legal Awards (small team of the year).
