New NW premier tell MECs to stay away from bling, extravagance | News Article
Mahikeng - Newly sworn in North West premier Supra Mahumapelo has told his MECs to stay away from bling and extravagance.

"No celebrations are to be held and luxury vehicles purchased by members of exco [provincial executive council]," Mahumapelo said in a statement on Wednesday.

"Our responsibility as public servants is not to work for ourselves but to serve the masses of our people who should be at the centre of development."

He outlined plans for the province to administer better service delivery. Mahumapelo has pledged a 21-day turnaround strategy for complaints raised by citizens, a 30-day payment policy to service providers, and a quarterly performance report-back to communities.

Mahumapelo said the new Exco should be accessible and focus its energy on accelerating service delivery to address the problems of poverty, inequality, and unemployment.

He would consult experts, academics, churches, businesses, and traditional leaders to map out ways to create jobs.
