Motheo FET College students march to Premier's office | News Article

Bloemfontein - A group of students of the Motheo FET College in Bloemfontein have marched to the office of Free State premier Ace Magashule earlier today to hand over a list of demands. The Motheo student representative council president Nkosinathi Nqesi says students are disillusioned by college management.

"Voertsek, management, voertsek!" he shouted in front of the Lebohang building in Bloemfontein, which was the province's main administrative building.

Nqesi urged Magashule to launch an investigation into the affairs of the Motheo FET College and alleged corrupt activities.

The students also want college head Paseka Simon Maboya to leave. Some protesting students suspected that Maboya had already been placed on temporarily leave.

A senior official from Magashule's office received the memorandum from the students. The students urged the official to resolve the issues at the college within five days.

The student demands include the safety and security situation at the college in Bloemfontein's central business district, the shortage of textbooks and the lack of qualified lecturers.

At issue was also exams that were suppose to take place earlier. Classes at the institution had been disrupted for the past two months.
