Students queue for last minutes registrations

Students queue for last minutes registrations | News Article

Registration by students at institutions of higher learning is in full-swing as prospective students flock in for last-minute registration.

The Department of Higher Education and Training is meanwhile urging students throughout the country to make use of universities’ online registration platforms as a means to fast-track the process and avoid stampedes.

This plea comes amidst the ‘national shutdown’ at the University of South Africa (Unisa) called by its Student Representative Council (SRC).

The SRC body at various Unisa campuses have stated that the shutdown is to highlight the plight faced by students that are financially excluded from accessing higher education, and calls for NSFAS services to improve.

The CEO of Unisa has in a statement further called on students who did not apply on time to contact the department of higher education which will then find ways to place them at intuitions that still have space.
