Local municipalities in the North West are urging residents to use water and electricity sparingly during this festive season.

The Ditsobotla Municipality has urged residents in Coligny, Lichtenburg, and Biesiesvlei to use water sparingly as they are currently experiencing problems with reservoirs and water infrastructure in Klipveld. The municipality further says they will be servicing about 13 boreholes at the beginning of next year to try and increase reservoir storage levels and improve the provision of water to communities. Residents in these towns have in the past months been battling to access water due to broken water pumps.

“We urge residents to be very careful in terms of how they utilise water, particularly this festive season where people generally tend to be negligent in the way they use water. Residents need to exercise caution at all times and try their best to conserve water. If you water your garden, ensure that you do that at night when enough water is available,” said the municipality.
