Loch Logan arrest: Suspect to appear in court tomorrow | News Article

The suspect who was arrested on Tuesday, following a police chase that ended at the Loch Logan Waterfront, is expected to appear in the Local Magistrate’ Court tomorrow.

This after he was positively linked to the robbing and hijacking of a Bangladesh Foreign National at gunpoint in Haldon Road, Bloemfontein, of an undisclosed amount money, groceries, and his white VW Citi Golf.

Police spokesperson, Thabo Covane, tells OFM News that the 31-year-old, along with three other suspects, was chased by police in the direction of the mall, where he ran into the basement parking. Security officers apprehended the one suspect and handed him over to the police.

Covane says the other three successfully managed to evade the arrest and are still at large. The police are still on the manhunt.

“The person who was arrested gave the police information about where the white Citi Golf was parked. He was taken to the vehicle and was arrested. The criminal records centre personnel powdered the vehicle for fingerprints and they were lifted successfully from the vehicle,” says Covane.

Covane says the description of the suspect was already known to the police with the help of the security at the mall.

He also says with the help of these security officers, two fit sergeants - Thabo Letshwane and Nkagisang Motlhanke - recovered a pistol that was hidden inside a box by the alleged perpetrators.

Yesterday the spokesperson of Loch Logan Waterfront, Ricky Ramos, confirmed the arrest of the suspect to OFM News.
