Missing Welkom woman: Police request help | News Article

The police in Welkom are appealing to members of the public who may know anything about the disappearance of Caren Bezuidenhout, a woman from Welkom, who disappeared under mysterious circumstances on Monday.

Police spokesperson in the Free State, Stephen Thakeng, said Bezuidenhout’s husband, Daniel, told police that he was asleep when she took their child to school in the morning. However, when he woke up at around 09:30, he realised she was still not at home.

Following this, Daniel then tried to trace her whereabouts using her vehicle tracker, which was found at Harmony Garage in Virginia with the keys inside, but Caren was nowhere to be found.

The vehicle tracking company also told Daniel that the car had last been seen at the Harmony Garage at 07h45 and had since that time, until his arrival at the garage, been stationary. He said he found the passenger window slightly opened, with the car keys lying inside. He then used a wire to take out the keys and fetched their child from school. But he has since not seen his wife nor heard from her despite making numerous calls to both her and her mother. A missing person’s file has been registered at the Welkom police station and police are further investigating the matter.

Should anyone have information leading to the tracing of Caren Bezuidenhout, Detective Captain Yolanda Hulme of Welkom Detective Services can be contacted at telephone number 057-391-6012 all hours or at 082-372-0423.
