Centlec assures residents power will be restored─── LUCKY NKUYANE 15:48 Fri, 26 Oct 2018
The Mangaung Metro's electricity supplier, Centlec, has reassured residents in the Bloemfontein area that its vending system is expected to be up and running in an hour's time or later today.
Centlec spokesperson, Lele Mamatu, says the system has been offline since a power failure in the city four hours ago due to power failure on the north side.
He, however, says that this is not related to the recent strike by employees.
OFM News previously reported that employees at Centlec in Bloemfontein demanded that working conditions be improved, there be an end to nepotism and tender fraud, as well as the permanent employment of workers currently in acting positions.
Mamatu says he is aware that power has been out in other parts since Wednesday and plans are afoot to restore the power.
"I was just told that there was a tripping that occurred in one of our main power supplies in the north,” says Mamatu.
On Sunday OFM News reported that power was restored in Bloemfontein's northern suburbs, which among others include Bayswater, Dan Pienaar and Naval Park after a brief lapse in the power supply. Mamatu told OFM News that the break, which occurred earlier that afternoon, was caused the by a dove that flew into the substation.
