Alleged NW #CashInTransit robbers stay in custody─── LUCKY NKUYANE 15:28 Mon, 15 Oct 2018
The case against all nine armed suspected Cash-in-Transit robbers who were apprehended in Mahikeng, in the North West, was postponed in the local magistrate court on Monday, 15 October.
The suspects, who were arrested following a high-speed chase, are expected to launch a formal bail application with their next appearance on the 23rd of this month. They are facing charges of conspiracy to commit robbery, unlawful possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition as well as being in possession of four suspected stolen vehicles.
Six firearms, including an AK-47 rifle, handguns and other weapons were confiscated during their arrest early on Friday morning. National Police Spokesperson, Vish Naidoo, told OFM News a Tactical Response Team pounced on the suspects following a tip-off that the suspects were gathering at a house in Riviera Park.
Naidoo says six of the suspects were arrested at the house, three were arrested during the chase after fleeing the scene while four managed to escape.
