Sanco member’s stance on ANC conference unfortunate─── 15:11 Mon, 23 Jul 2018
The South African National Civil Organisation (Sanco) in the North West clarifies its stance on ANC regional conference.
This follows after a member of Sanco, Tebogo Phologo, was captured by the public broadcaster, the SABC, saying the ruling party did not engage with them as an alliance partner.
However, the Sanco provincial spokesperson, Packet Seaketso, told OFM News that the statement by Phologo was an unfortunate one because it’s not mandatory for the ANC to engage or consult, but rather invite them to give a message of support.
On Saturday, police had to use stun grenades and rubber bullets to disperse disgruntled ANC members from various branches during the Dr Ruth Segomotsi Mompati regional conference held in Christiana.
Seaketso says Sanco cannot interfere in the internal affairs of the ANC.
“The first thing I need to do is to clarify that the ANC did not consult with us, which is the statement by our comrade during the Dr Ruth Segomotsi Mompati regional conference by the name of Phologo. The ANC does not consult us. They invite us to come and give messages of support so we can only respond as Sanco to say those are the internal processes of the ANC that the ANC must deal with and make sure that all the processes are followed to the letter,” says Seaketso.
