NWU's #Mahikeng campus remains closed─── OLEBOGENG MOTSE 12:16 Mon, 23 Apr 2018
There will be no classes and activities at the North West University’s (NWU) Mahikeng campus today.
This after the university decided to suspend classes last week Friday following violent unrest in the province’s capital.
NWU said at the time, it had decided to suspend classes to ensure the safety of staff and students. NWU spokesperson, Louis Jacobs, says the university decided to continue the suspension of classes for today because they feared protests in the area would flare up again.
This is despite calm being restored to Mahikeng and its surrounding area, following President Cyril Ramaphosa’s call for patience in the province, while all stakeholders attend to the issues raised by residents.
Graduation ceremonies meant to take place at the campus this week Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday have also been pushed back to the 2nd, 3rd and 4th of May.
