There will be a fair chance of rain every day this week, in the Free State.
This is according to The South African Weather Service's Michael Nethavhani - from the Bloemfontein Weather Office. Nethavhani says the best chances of rain will be in the Northern part of the Free State from tomorrow, as 50% of thundershowers and scattered showers are expected in the afternoon. In the rest of the province isolated scattered showers of around 30% are expected.
Nethavhani says Viljoenskroon, Kroonstad and Welkom, the chances are high of good rain in the area. Meanwhile, today is a sunny day in Bloemfontein with maximum temperatures of 27 degrees Celsius. However, throughout the day the Eastern Free State is experiencing cool and cloudy conditions – these areas include Bethlehem, QwaQwa, Frankfort and Vrede.
Heavy rains are expected from Wednesday onwards, in the Free State. Nethavhani says, it is quite warm with maximum temperatures of 26, 27 degrees are expected. The Eastern parts of the Free State, will however remain cool with temperatures reaching up to a maximum of 24 degrees.
A 60% chance of rain is expected in North West this week. Nethavhani says the chances of rainfall is consistent where the chances of rain is 60% every day. He says Friday and Saturday, the chances of rain tones down to 30%.
Nethavhani says the average temperatures range from plus/minus 25 degrees Celsius.
And lastly, the favourite areas for rain in the Northern Cape seems to be the north-eastern half – areas such as Kuruman, Van Zylsrus, the north-east of Postmasburg and Kimberly. Nethavhani says 50% scattered showers and thundershowers are expected this afternoon, and 60% thundershowers on Monday and Tuesday. Nethavhani adds only 30% scattered showers are expected the rest of the week.
Nethavhani says hot temperatures of up to 30 degrees Celsius are expected in Upington, Kuruman and Prieska.
