#UFS students’ safety still a concern─── KATLEHO MORAPELA 16:51 Wed, 13 Sep 2017
Issues relating to the safety of off-campus students are among some of the issues still plaguing students at the University of the Free State (UFS).
This is according to the main campus’ SRC President, Asive Dlanjwa. Dlanjwa says investigations into most of the cases that have been brought forth are on-going. They are still in talks with stakeholders. This includes the office of the MEC for Police, Roads and Transport, Sam Mashinini, the Mangaung Metro and the University’s management. He, however, adds that coupled with safety, the issue of unpaid academic fees by NSFAS is also of high concern…
Dlanjwa says NSFAS has thus far not allocated funds for the current academic year, yet applications for 2018 are already open. He further appeals to all students to work together will the university to address issues relating to all forms of exclusions currently experienced at the university.
