Bloemfontein - The bravery of one of the men that died in the shooting incident at the Chris Hani informal settlement in Bloemfontein last night has been praised.
Police spokesperson, Thandi Mbambo, says two men wearing balaclavas came into the house at about 23:45 and allegedly started shooting randomly at a group of people who were still awake. Four men died and three people were later rushed to a hospital. A 25-year-old family member who spoke to OFM News says at the time of the shooting, Lebohang Mariphi jumped on his niece in an effort to protect her from getting shot, unfortunately being killed himself.
A high-level team of investigators has been appointed to investigate the incident.
The family member says when he arrived at the house, they already removed the bodies and he just saw blood in the house. “My little niece then came to me and she said my uncle has been shot. That was very sad for me because she is still so young and she had to witness everything.”
